In a public address hosted by the Clinton School, world renowned historian and author Taylor Branch discusses his experiences working with Bill Clinton for the George McGovern presidential campaign in Texas. He also discusses the Civil Rights Movement, the lessons learned from it and how those lessons affect the future of the United States. Branch draws from his award-winning series on The Civil Rights Movement, entitled America in the King Years.
Taylor Branch an American author and historian best known for his award-winning trilogy of books chronicling the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the history of the American civil rights movement. The third and final volume of the 2,912-page trilogy — collectively called America in the King Years — was released in January 2006. Branch is a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a Masters in Public Administration from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Branch has served in different capacities at a number of publications including The Washington Monthly, Harper’s and Esquire Magazine.
