Bestselling author, public theologian, speaker, preacher, and international commentator, Jim Wallis discusses his latest book “The Great Awakening: Reviving Faith & Politics in a Post-Religious Right America.” Wallis speaks about a whole new generation that is applying their faith to the biggest issues facing America and how it is changing the entire landscape of faith, politics, and even issues of moral value. Wallis says politics has failed to resolve or address the biggest moral issues of the current. He says America needs social movements to rise up to change politics and that the best social movements almost always have spiritual foundations. He calls these movements, ‘great awakenings,” citing examples such as the abolition of slavery, women’s suffrage, child labor reform and civil rights.
