Arkansas Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln and Georgia Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss offer views and takes questions from the audience regarding the coming renewal of the Farm Bill. With current legislation set to expire at the end of the year, the Bush Administration announced its proposals for the 2007 Farm Bill. Senators Lincoln and Chambliss discuss the new Farm Bill with an estimated budget of $90 billion over five years and not only how it impact the American farmer, but the international agricultural community as well. Specifically, the Senators address what the bill means for two of the largest agriculture states in the nation, Arkansas and Georgia.
Senator Saxby Chambliss (R- Ga.) is serving his first term as Georgia’s junior senator after his election in 2002. He is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Rules Committee and he is the Ranking Republican Member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
Senator Blanche Lincoln (D – Ark.) is her state’s senior senator, having first been elected in 1998 as the youngest woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate. She serves on the Senate Committee on Finance; the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry; the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources; and the Senate Special Committee on Aging.
